Franz Schubert was an Austrian composer born on January 31, 1797 and dead on November 19, 1828 in Vienna. His composition talent was quickly noticed, but for a living, Schubert was a teacher. However, he rapidly impressed Antonio Salieri, who decided very quickly to teach him during five years. Schubert was recognised by other big names in music, such as Beethoven who would have said that he had a “divine intelligence”; Schubert had the opportunity to serve the powerful Esterhazy family. Among his best known works: his many Lieder (The Erl King, The Young Girl and Death, …) and also operas such as Rosamunde.
